Mission Possible brings our community together around literacy, connecting people, resources, and existing literacy efforts so that more children have the opportunity to succeed and discover a love of reading.
Across Bexar County, dedicated educators, literacy professionals, organizations, and volunteers are already doing important work. We aren't here to duplicate that work.
We're here to help strengthen it.

Literacy is not someone else's problem. It's all of our responsibility.
Mission Possible shines a light on the literacy challenges facing our community while celebrating the people and organizations working to address them. We encourage businesses, families, volunteers, organizations, and individuals to see themselves as part of the solution.
Readers
One way we're putting community support into action is through Readers—community volunteers who will mentor first- and second-grade students through established literacy efforts.
During our 2026–27 pilot year, we are working with Communities In Schools to connect caring community members with young readers. We are also working with Scholastic to provide mentor kits and books that children can take home to build personal libraries.
Because reading shouldn't stop when the school day ends.
Connecting the Community
Through the Executive Book Review, Mission Possible serves as an advocate, connector, and catalyst for collaboration.
We want to help more people discover the outstanding literacy work already happening throughout Bexar County—and find meaningful ways to support it.
Our vision is a community where literacy belongs to everyone, where great work is connected and amplified, and where every child has the opportunity to experience the confidence, possibility, and joy that come from reading.
